About Carolbilt

Carolbilt is the creation of Carol Mayer.  Born and raised in Indiana, Carol has an associates degree in liberal arts from Indiana University and a B.A. in psychology from Purdue (Indianapolis Extension). In 2001, she accepted a buy-out package from a consumer electronics company formerly known as RCA.  At the end of her career, she was a Program Manager in the Design Department and was surrounded by some of the best designers in the world.   In 2003, she and her husband, Tom Hopkins, moved to Bradenton, Florida, to a rural community called Mill Creek, 20 miles east of the beach. In 2005, while evacuating for Hurricane Wilma, Carol and Tom headed north and at the end of the day found themselves in Franklin, N.C.  The southern hospitality and smoky blue mountains beckoned and in 2009 they packed their bags - destination: Cowee Mountain, Macon County, N.C.

Carol's husband was very supportive and instrumental in helping her realize her dream of spending long days lost in creative projects by building a cottage overlooking a pond behind their house and furnishing it with every tool necessary to build her designs.

Carol is now living her dream by doing what she loves...dreaming up, designing and building her own creations.  Even though her current passion is funky and whimsical clocks, she also makes whatever else comes to mind.  Each creation has Carol's name on it, so considerable time and effort is made to produce the very best quality with the total satisfaction of the end-user in mind.

Life is good.
